I put this picture up just to figure out this whole blogging deal, but I have to tell the story behind it.
Engrossed in the novelty of being just feet away from the bridge I'd seen a million times in magazines and moves, I was caught off-gaurd when this Indian man came up and asked Cristen for a picture. I thought to myself, "That's cool, I mean I'd probably want a picture of some cute Indian girl under my arm for a picture in front of the Taj Mahal too," but I was suprised to hear him beckon me to come be in the photo as well. We'd never said a world to the guy and he wanted to do a Golden Gate photo session! What's even cooler, is that we started talking and finding out about one another. By the end of our 5 minute conversation we had a full invite to come to India where he would give us a place to stay, take us into the Himalayas, show us Pakistan, and even pay for all of our expenses! I wish we could all be that bold to just offer to do radical stuff for other people. I didn't quite know whether or not to take this guy seriously, but he called me the next day to see how our time in San Francisco was and remind me that he would give me a call a few months down the road after he had returned back to India and we could make arrangements for a time if we ever wanted to meet again. Phat India hook up.... check.
Spending the summer as an intern for Hope International in the the Dominican Republic working in the microfinance sector, teaching some english, practicing my spanish, working to empower the marginalized, just hanging out.
